Daphne Ng is the Co-Founder and Chief Coach at Duo Sparks Badminton Academy Malaysia, a
professional training academy established in 2012 dedicated to nurturing athletes from grassroots to
international levels. A former Malaysian national badminton player, Daphne brings over a decade of
elite-level coaching experience, strengthened by a deep academic and practical foundation in sports
science and psychology.
She completed her Ph.D. in Education with a specialization in Sports Psychology, with her thesis
focusing on the integration of psychological skills training to enhance footwork agility in badminton.
Her expertise bridges high-performance coaching and mental skills development, equipping athletes
to thrive both physically and psychologically.
Daphne is also the author of the book “Activation, Mobility, Strength, Recovery – Badminton Series 1”,
a practical guide for badminton players on resistance band training, recovery, and injury prevention.
She serves as a certified Sanctband AMSR Instructor, where she conducts workshops and writes
training protocols designed to enhance athletic performance through resistance-based functional
movement.
Her coaching influence is far-reaching. She led the Malaysia Deaf Badminton Team to a Silver Medal
at the 2017 Deaflympics in Turkey, and played a vital role in preparing Malaysia’s E-Sports Team for
the 2019 SEA Games in Manila, contributing to a Gold Medal win in Hearthstone through sports
psychological support.
Daphne is widely recognized as a national advocate for inspiring sports. She was appointed the face
of MILO ActiveGo Fibre Plus and the “Jom, Aktif Negaraku” campaign by Nestlé Malaysia. Her
accolades include the 2022 SAY Award for Sports and Wellness, the 2023 Young Scientific Talent
Residence Scholarship awarded by Campus France and the French Embassy, and a postgraduate
diploma from the International Olympic Academy in Olympia, Greece.
In 2024, Daphne was honored with the National Sports Award for Women’s Innovation (Coach) for her
innovation of the Swift-Smart Motion Pattern (SSMP), an innovative training model that blends sports
psychology and science to improve badminton footwork agility.
